Is it worth calling them?

Engine is in limp home, with warning light.

Car will be going to indie, and I am not sure if he has STAR or just has the use of it. In the meantime it's a pain.

Would Mobilo likely reset and diagnose - or just send it along to Merc?

Car still has the cover until the next (nearly due) service...

Get Mobilo to diagnose (for free0 and get the indy to replace the necessary.

I hope it is not the inlet port shut off.

^ I'm guessing so aaarrggghhh

Hopefully something simple :)

Sadly time go the better of me on this. I had a choice of either calling Mobilo and delaying the pub, or dropping the car off on the way and avoiding an early start involving two femailes, who were counting on a sleep in (although naturally as it is a non-school day the five year old one was wide awake at the crack of dawn).

So the car is at the indie, and I will have to wait for the news. More annoying is the noise that the Volvo started making on the way to drop off the MB. Strongly suspect a broken spring.

Quick change of tactics for me...

Car back, Mobilo out, diagnosed as the dreaded left Port intake motor.

New indie found and booked in for monday.

Had a go to see if the Mobilo guy fancied a go. He said that he knew of one that had been done at the roadside, and it had taken 3 hours.

Friday afternoon - he thought not :D

David,

Would you mind telling me which indie you use the the area? Always handy to know who we have in the area.

I live in Woodhouse and have generally stuck to the main dealer, though have used Mtech (Kevin Harper) in Woodhouse on an older car.

He's ex MB commercial, but is experienced with the cars I am told and lots of stuff is the same anyway. Certainly seemed knowledgeable and approachable on the phone and has been recommended by the garage who I normally use, who do not have STAR and has guesstimated about £300 + VAT for my job, which if it comes out at that, I think will be a decent price.

I' have used Mtech previously and have not rushed back. He did a decent job, but I didn't feel like I had value for money and seemed to pay almost as much as if I had gone to the dealer.
