Car
2005 W215 CL500.
...consult workshop.

This is the message I have had a couple of times recently. The first couple of times, on a long run, the CC has been on and when the message displays the cruise is turned off, the parameter steering stiffens up and starting from a dead stop seems to take place in second gear.

Turning the car off and on again gets rid of all the above and everything is back to normal.

Following an Italian tune up yesterday and earlier today the same thing occurred, again once the engine is stopped and restarted everything is back to normal.

I suspect the MAF...what do others think?

I get a similar message - usually if I use full kickdown and it then goes into limp.

I also suspect MAF.

One of these days I'll get around to replacing it.

It could also be the throttle potentiometer. A common issue. A Star check will reveal all.

I got that EPC warning then Limp Mode No Revs above 3000 , no kickdown and it would reset on starting for the first few miles . There is a post by dieselman on how to check the MAF re measuring voltage on Pin 5 i think cant remember the values 2V plus on idle when a previous one went toast the voltage was virtually zero
Most posts I read really reccomend STar clear the codes Run the Car till the problem occurrs then read the codes There are a lot of things it could be

I had EPC warning once and the car died instantly. Had to get it towed in the end as it started after a few hours but died again. Fault was suspected to be high pressure pump but was a fuel line that went to one of the pumps (low pressure or high pressure - cant remember)

Worth checking there isn't a small leak anywhere
