Can you set it to only use mains power to pre-heat/cool or will it always use the battery when unplugged?

Thanks

Of course it will use the battery when not plugged in!

But if you mean when it is plugged in, I think it uses mains power, well, it hasn't ever been a problem for me anyway, all this about you can't heat cars and don't leave lights on with an electric car is a load of tosh it hardly makes any difference at all. Don't worry about it.

But.... if you don't have an EQC already and are thinking about getting one, there are much better electric cars now, I've had mine over 3 years; old technology, it even was when new

Thanks, I guess I meant what if I set the pre-heating a week in advance (I think you can do that?) but forget or choose not to plug it in one night, do I need to disable it manually to prevent it using up some battery? Would be good to have an option to either use battery when unplugged or just skip the pre-heating if its unplugged.

I understand it won't be much but I thought the main point of pre-heating was to maximise range (but also for comfort/no need to wait to defrost etc).

I'm getting it on Monday :eek:/🤩

I can’t find an option to only pre heat the climate control when plugged in (EQE)

With regards to pre-heating the batteries, I don’t think the option you are talking about does anything with the batteries but if plugged in will top up so your range is as good as possible and not wasted on the initial heating of the cabin etc.

As far as I know pre-heating/pre-conditioning of the batteries is done behind the scenes when the navigation is set to go to a charging point so it can be charged at the highest kWh possible.

Two different things, pre heat for comfort is simply the heated seats and car heater and if its not plugged in it will use battery.

Pre heating the battery for quick charging is done via the system while driving automatically, when you set your sat nav to go to a charger.

Just for the record, I live up North in the Yorkshire Dales, have had the car three years and have only used the comfort pre heat a handful of times on very cold days during winter, unless you are a cold **** and live in the highlands or somewhere I wouldn't worry about it :)
