Erratic Idle

Hello all,

So the symptoms, basically the car(c280 1995) is in gear the idle gets really twitchy, f i hold the idle at about 800rmp its perfect. ive replaced the coil packs and HT leads as they were a bit old anyway.

what i find confusing is that when i unplug the MAF with the car running it doesnt affect it? surely it should stall. think a bit of cleaner will do the job or it possible wiring.

Possibly replace the MAF, also check all vacuum hoses for splits, cracks etc.

You can spend a fortune replacing parts trying to rectify the problem and still not solve it.

I have the same problem on mine and have spent well over £600.00 on replacing parts and still cannot get rid of the problem.

Have had mine on a STAR diagnostics which said there were no faults. Mercedes had my car for 3 days and they couldn't find the problem either.

Do what I have done......live with it or spend a fortune TRYING to solve it.
