Hi,

I cant seem to get to the bottom of an issue ive been having with my C220 CDI. When im driving if i put my foot down on the gas the ESP warning light comes on saying 'ESP Unavailable' and the car goes into limp mode. I have to reset the car by turning the ignition off and on about 4 times for it to clear. Once i have done this, it seems to run fine until it feels like doing it again. This seems to happen maybe 1 out of 10 times i use the car and it seems to happen mostly when im on the motorway/freeway.

1 Garage said that it could be the injectors. Another garage said i need to change the fuel rail. Both have put it onto a computer. But i dont see the link between the fuel rail/injectors and he ESP system.

Any ideas would help or if you have had the same problem and got it fixed would love to know what was up

Have you tried / checked the battery(or batteries) low voltage causes the esp unavailable and hold function disabled messages and a low voltage would poss cause a limp mode too

Which diagnosis tool did these workshops have? There would have to be a stored code, one or more.

It could even be the accelerator pedal but quite useless to guess when proper diagnosis would reveal the real issue.

thank you both for the advise.

@Herishi... no not checked the battery, will have a look and see if its ok

@Diesel Benz... Im not 100% sure. Im guessing it was a star, but i could be wrong. speaking with them tomorrow so will check that also.
