Hi All,
During this whole process of trying to sell my CLK I came across a possible stumbling block.
When I went to my local Lotus dealer and was talking about a possible P/X against my CLK I saw the salesman punch my Registration number into some database and he then told me it wasn't showing?
I didn't think too much of it as I wasn't about to do a deal with him anyway.
When I originally purchased the CLK I ran my own HPI check against www.hpicheck.com and the car came through clean.
It showed the previous cherished plates that were shown against it as well as the current plate it has now.
Anyway, I had a potential buyer who then asked a friend of his in the trade to run a check against it and he said that it wasn't coming up in the database. I then went back to the Lotus dealer and asked them which company they use for these sorts of checks. It turned out it was a company called Experian.
I then phoned up Experian and explained the situation to them and read out the previous plates against the chassis number. The first and second plates tied up but they had no further of records after that!
So they are now fixing the problem but it could take 2-3 weeks for the databases to catch up.
I am unable to contact the potential buyer easily and this could result in a lost sale.
Grrrrr! So someone is paying good money for bogus information as well as me losing a buyer.
Mac.
