Calling Photoshop boffins!

How do i extract the circle from the background,so that the white background square is not visible and takes on the colour of whatever background the image is placed on(such as when hosted on a message board/avatar).

I have PS.

You should be able to use the magic wand to select the white background and then set that area/colour to transparent.
