Features of new TomTom 930T

Interesting developments. My predictions:
  • The Daily Mail will start a campaign to ban the "IQ Routes" feature because it will increase traffic on otherwise quiet roads
  • Advanced Lane Guidance will prove useless in France because they continually renumber their roads and exit numbers and change the destination points on their road signs
Seriously for a moment, I do think that the "IQ Routes" feature will run into trouble because it will naturally cause an increase in use of what are currently the "quieter" and thus quicker routes, thereby making them slower over time(huh?).

The Advanced Lane Guidance looks neat, but I'm not sure how useful it'll be in practice.

Ah but remember "map share".

My TomTom picks up map corrections every single time I dock it, and it's set to only take ones that have been validated by TomTom.

Hm. I detect a prime example of the Observer Effect in the making.

The greater number of road users pile onto these "IQ" routes the slower they must become. Thus by measuring the speed and applying it in this way they will change what they have measured

They have the Advanced route guidance on the new SClass, it works really well much better than the old system. Driving home from Germany it came into it's own, very impressed.

A quote from IQ routes -

Did you know?

IQ Routes™ technology gives you a faster route in over 50% of all your journeys.

and the other 50% ???:bannana:
