Ok the other problem on the R129 we are purchasing is the interior has been rather neglected. There is wear on the driver's bolster (but we have a local expert for that) but the rest of the interior is rather dirty.

I'd like to give it a proper clean myself rather than hand it to a valeter as no doubt in time the car will become one of those "pride & joy" items that is used on the weekends rather than just another car in the household.

We're talking dirty carpets, grubby sears, dirty soft top (but in 99% great condition) etc etc

You should hire a professional carpet cleaning machine with upholstery attachment...such as this...

HSS Hire - Small Carpet Cleaner Hire and Rent

That is the best bet by far. Try and wait for a warm day. Do it first thing in the morning, then leave open for everything to dry, as whilst it will suck up the water, it will leave things a little damp.

OR...remove the carpets and jet wash.

You using the same local expert that I did? www.leatherrevive.co.uk

1001 carpet cleaner worked wonders on my seatbelts and carpets! :thumb:

I generally use Dave Brigden for all my leather work at Marton. He's a VW specialist but will do other marques with a bit of arm twisting.

I'll grab some 1001 - thanks for that :)

I do have some of the leather revive funnily enough - forgot I had that in the garage!

Thanks - will look into that. A shame our household VAX won't fit in the car. Then again - I could remove the carpets....

The leatherrevive isn't "stuff" it's a bloke who comes to your house and mints up your interior! :) He's based in Poulton. Look at my pics, there are some before and after images.

Aha! Apologies, only quickly looked at the link, my mistake. Will certainly give him a bell once I've collected the car to asses what needs doing. Thanks for the link :)

Edit: Just looked at your pics - that's one heck of an improvement. I'll probably get Dave to replace the bolster and then contact Leather Revive to go over the seats and match them up to the new leather.

Thanks again for the help.

Just spoke to Paul from leatherrevive - he's coming out early September to do the whole interior.

I have cleaned it up myself using some leather restorer but no doubt a professional job will make it as good as new.

Thanks for the tip.

Nice one! He's a top bloke and does a great job!
