I've been looking for a CLK 320 since christmas and viewed a few in varying condition and price. I'd had it in my mind to go for a '00 on model for the facelift look but the cars I viewed where either a) rust buckets, b) expensive and rusty, or c) just didn't seem "right" (there is also d) silver and therefore banned from Ians garage for life, but i'll not go into that )
So I started looking at older models just out of curiosity and I'm glad I did. This evening I have put a deposit on a '98 CLK 320 which is quite frankly, immaculate. It had done 68K miles and it sounds corny to say it, but it drives like new. The bonus is that it is loaded to the gunwales with extras, Leather memory seats, heated seats, full climate, posture drivers seat and more I've probably not even found yet. My car insurance was a pleasant surprise too, its going to go up by £25! Not bad for having another 70hp under my foot. I'm glad I looked at an older model, this one puts the 51, X and Y plates I looked at to shame.
I'll be arranging to pick it up in the nest 7 days, I cant wait!
