Fire extinguisher recommendations ? Car and Home

I just keep a small extinguisher from Lidl in my car, along with others about the house. Kitchen has a fire blanket.

Reviving an old thread. I've just bought a car with an immaculate 14 year old fire extinguisher under the driver's seat.

Is it now just an attractive red paperweight, or could it be trusted in a moment of need?

What is the life of a fitted from new fire extinguisher?
Modern extinguishers now have a 5-10 year life span then there are disposed of. Service intervals are generally a visual annually and cylinders are no longer pressure tested. This is why they have pressure gauges fitted with the exception of co2 which is checked by weight.
Try not to get the cheapest of the cheap as a lot are made in China and just about make minimum approval standards.
I personally have a film forming foam extinguisher in my SL rated 13A

Some european countries insist you have one in the car, cant remember which but extinguisher is in when we tour over there.
I don't think so, French law says it's an offence to drive by a car on fire without stopping to help but does not state you need a fire extinguisher. But, step on the ferry to France and the shop on board will sell them along with other things you don't need and kinda make out it's the law over there.
