Fitting DRLs

DRLs are horrid things, IMO. In terms of taste, they are up there with Lexus style lights and italicised number plate script. Becoming compulsary on new cars at some point due to EU legislative madness though.:wallbash:

Kits looks good and easy to fit?

Not sure how 'after market' it would look though....

One of those I would rather see someone else try it first....

Some one else tried fitting those and just could not get them to operate correctly. Not sure if it was "installer error" or something to do with the CANBUS system. The LEDs would illuminate but then start strobing?

Not keen on aftermarket lights nowadays. Not sure how these would look.

Have to say DL's look a bit flash, but it's surprising how many people move out of the way when I'm in the Insignia which has the LED DL's.

I completely agree , was driving a w212 avant last weekend and it was clearing the traffic like nothing else! for that alone worth it.:thumb:

Were they strobing? Had you replaced the bulbs with blue ones :D

Agree I would rather others did it first so I could see how they looked.

No :) but they are really bright and i had the xenons on too. I was going onto the motorway last week waiting at a junction to turn right and between the xenons , LED front indicators and DRL the corsa in front didnt know what to do. The LED indicator was so bright his entire interior was flashing yellow :D

Fit them , they look great if you get the proper philips ones. The barry ones from ebay that are nothing more than LED rope lights look naff and are obviously nor DRL quality.

...or you can go into your lighting menu and turn on dlr and it will turn on your side lights as it is already required in some markets.

That must be a star option. All my MB's have only had the option of constant in cars without LED DRL's which brings on the dipped headlights.

Where would be a suitable place to fit these to the front of a W124?

Any ideas if they would even suit?

Is it possible to get them wired into the running lights already fitted as standard to the car?

TIA,

KJ

It's a look that you can get away with on a contemporary car (but I still think looks naff). On a borderline classic like a W124, it would just look wrong, wrong, wrong. IMO

I thought that when one turned on headlights the DRLs turned off - see instructions..

on the w212 when the dipped headlights go on the DRL's dim slightly. By the looks of things the philips ones switch off.

Personally id just wire them into the switched ignition circuit and have them on all the time rather than the conditional on and off .

i thought about it an there are plenty 212 le lights in germany for sale... but they do look so after market even tho they are not.

I quite like the look of DRL's and this kit looks especially neat, but can't decide if they will look wrong and make the front end look clumsy.

Has anyone fitted DRL's yet?

Ive actually thought about this for my W202, but I guess your right, it still would look aftermarket wouldnt it?
