Hi all I've fitted one of these
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=370997909429
And it's connected to my radio which is a Audio 10 / BE 6021
And when connected to my I phone 5s to be fair it is quite a good sound with very little hiss which can only be heard if there is no music playing but as soon as i plug my I phone in to charge I get a much louder hissing swirling sort of sound hope you can help thanks steve

Don't plug the charger in when you're using the headphone port for anything. Even if you're listening to music through headphones you will notice an additional buzzing sound when charging. It's nothing to do with the transmitter, although this may exacerbate the problem.

As far as I know there's nothing you can do about it. I have the same problem in our Audi as I use an aux port in there to play music from the 3.5mm socket. So, on long trips I either make sure the phone's fully charged or I charge it when listening to music from another source.

Strange I never had that problem in my Audi if I had it plugged in or through bluetooth and on charge but it was an aftermarket radio which I still have but didn't want to sacrifice the sound and steering controls as when I put the original back in the Audi I did notice a much better sound quality.

It doesn't seem to affect Bluetooth in the same way. I've always assumed that the physical connection through the 3.5mm jack is subseptible to picking up the electrical interference from the charging source. I'm only drawing on personal experience, I don't profess to be an expert.

you could be right i had my i phone plugged in via the usb and also BT but i never used the MP3/AUX input so i can't answer that personally but if anybody has any suggestions? What other merc radio will fit with bluetooth that i can still use the steering controls or any other idea's

That was my plan but after the whining noise I was getting !! I thought different that would be just what I want so does it ( STOP THE WHINING ALTOGETHER ) I get the whining even if my merc ain't running it happens as soon as I plug the charger in to the live 12 supply.
PS have you got another link for the BT you using as if yours is as you say I would prefer to get the same the link does not work well mot for me thanks steve

Mine was an "August Bluetooth Transmitter"

£10 from Amazon

The whining is most likely because you're drawing power from either the same source, or nearby.

Did you take a feed from the 12v cigarette lighter supply for the modulator? If so try removing that and either getting a 12v supply from elsewhere or direvt from the battery (of course running an in line fuse or 2)

Bet you that solves your problem - then the BT is just a bonus for you!

Thanks for all your help my fm modulator is wired to the switched live for the radio and phone is plugged in the 12 power.
And after all your comments and a little research rather than jump straight in and fit bluetooth I'm going to play around and try different places to earth and power the fm modulator and the fit a blue tooth I will let you know the result thanks

Just found this and it seems to be what's happening to my set up.

Car Audio Ground Loops

Although there are a lot of things that can introduce unwanted noise into a car audio system, ground loops are the single biggest culprit. This noisy problem can occur any time that two audio components in the same system are grounded in different locations. If those two locations have different ground potentials, an unwanted current flow can be introduced into the system, which can create noise. If the difference in ground potentials is removed, the unwanted current flow ceases, and the noise goes away.

Right I've just wired the FM modulator up to the live & earth feed for the fag lighter and there's a huge improvement still a little bit of hiss but like I said its much better. My next plan is to get a hard wired bluetooth receiver but when I fit it I'm going to try connecting everything up to the same earth basically just run a earth through the fag lighter / BT / FM modulator and radio still keeping all the original earths to see if I can improve on this a little and see how I get on cheers steve

I've just ordered this I've just ordered this http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=171369829119
It's a bluetooth connectivity but through Amazon its £29.99 on Amazon I've done loads of research on these things today and I hope I ain't wrong but this has to be the best value and also one of the best out there you can even charge your phone of it I plan to put an extra 12volt socket under the centre consol so it's still easy access if I need it but everything will be all nice and tidy.

BUT IF ANY OF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A BLUETOOTH RECIEVER THIS HAS DEFFINATLY WORTH A LOOK ON AMAZON SEE THE REVEIWS.
