Foglights.

Hi,
I drive a C36 AMG. Today I changed front bulbs to High performance headlight bulbs. For £33 I feel it is a worthwhile upgrade. Lighting is certainly better.
The C36 has foglights (working) in the front under bumper. However when I removed the plastic dipped beam cover from the rear of the headlights I found that the headlight assembly contains a foglight bulb which is wired in BUT NOT working. Is there any way I could wire these to work with the main beam or is this idea a non starter?

USA cars have the high bean unit under the bumper and foglight in the main unit

All W202 models have integrated foglamps in the main headlamp housings but the AMG models have foglamps in the bumper too. There is a pass-thru' cable that runs from the headlamps to the foglamps that intercepts the foglamp power and takes it to the bumper fogs. It is possible to rewire the plugs on these to have the bumper foglamps replace or mirror any of the standard headlamp functions. It might be possible to rewire those plugs to allow the headlamp unit fogs mirror the beam function but I can't say for certain without taking them apart. This would be the simplest way to do it on your car. I should add that the fuse might need to be changed if you intend to run four bulbs off a feed designed for two bulbs and that if one of those bulbs were to blow the car's bulb failure warning would likely not inform you.
