Wishing your son good luck in his new University. I bet both Dad and son are very proud.

Incredibly proud of Christian - even at his lowest point, crawling around the floor with nerve damage and pneumonia, he didn't complain once.

People knock kids these days, but not sure we give them a chance to shine or.. show their resolve. We mostly give it to them on a plate.

Some universities realise that they need students made of the right stuff, and I'm really pleased for you both that you've found one. Well done to you both!

Cheers Booby D. This has been going on since Christmas 2009 (suspected testicular cancer - hydrocele . Then a 400cc Hematoma, Cancer and Pneumonia.) It changed me and suspect it's been the making of Christian.

The best news of course is your sons recovery. Reassuring though to see that someone has looked beyond exam results and realised that here is a lad that well deserves a leg up for the future . Must be a great boost to family and friends , and I would not mind betting that he puts more into his studies than a lot of his peers. All the very best to you and yours.

Wise words.

What was tough to handle (apart from the several misdiagnoses that led to his blood cancer diagnosis) was that other kids with much less severe illnesses were given additional time in exams, offers of postponed exam dates and so on. But bizarrely, a lad with cancer, pneumonia ( neutropenia) and the ongoing effects of steroids and chemotherapy, was offered nothing. And of course, the more you suffer, the less you feel like asking for help.

Many thanks

Chris

All the best to your son and your family for the future, it's when I hear stories like yours that it reminds me how fragile life really is and that we should do our best to enjoy the little time we have on this lonely planet.

It changed me. For the better it has to be said. Shame we need events like this to refocus our minds. But better late than never I guess and thanks for your kind words.

Good luck yo you all and great to hear a good story for a change:)

Thanks Chris - have to say I like this place, but wish it wasn't so confrontational all the time.

Best wishes

Thanks for taking the time and courage to post.

Such a heart warming story in these times of international hardship and terror.

Best wishes to you all.

It helps to share :)

Thanks for your kind words.
