Thought this may interest somebody? I was very specific in asking the question "Is this as good as it seems?" They were adamant that the Principal himself had stated there is no catch. In fact I asked Matthew specifically if it included the cost of normal service items such as oil etc. and he confirmed it was, as well as confirming that it can be for any service (A, B etc.) and there is no limit on the number. Which could be kinda good for me as at my mileage I'll amost certainly need an A and a B service in a year :D Worth over £700! Terms below

Let me know via PM if anybody picks on it please - helps me get better service and kudos at the dealer! :)

1 Year complementary servicing offer terms and conditions

The items covered are as identified within a routine service as per the manufacturers schedule and exclude any wear and tear items. The offer excludes vehicles used for taxi and private hire company usage, is for the registered vehicle and owner only and is non-transferable to another vehicle or person

The service has to be carried out at one of the Mercedes-Benz Retail Manchester businesses (Macclesfield, Manchester Central, Stockport and Whitefield) and is exclusive to these locations. The offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other promotion and can be withdrawn at any time.

I spotted this when looking for my next car and upon comparing cars and deals around the country I found the Manchester pricing to be amongst the less favourable . My conclusion was that the likely cost of the servicing is built in to the price!

Hi Gollom,
I don't think it is anything startling. As Alfie has already said, the price of a service can always be negotiated into a purchase price. A modern Mercedes will only need servicing at intervals well in excess of 12000 miles and maybe as high as 20,000. The dealership has craftily worded it to include only service items and NOT wear and tear parts. I would like to see the dealership offer you the full term for a Service Plus warranty. That would be a worthwhile bonus and is valid nationwide, until the car's sixth birthday. :) :)

Regards,
John

I chose to buy our car from Manchester (and also Matthew coincidently) for a couple of reasons. One was the free service, and the fact that they did a service before collection too. Also, they haggled nicely with me and gave the best price for the trade in, and finally they were the least smarmy and seemed genuinely keen to do business whereas the stealer we purchased from initially couldnt do less for us.

The free service was just icing on the cake, however as it will be a B service i think it was worthwhile and a nice marketing tool for them.
