You can save a lot of £££.

Not quite, it’s worth about a grand according to Webuyanycar, as it’s done in excess of 150k, but I think it’s lovely.
Your life's worth alot more , buy cheap buy twice . 👍👍

It is a dilemma when you have an old car that needs some tlc . Do you let it go and give a dealer a bit more profit, or do you assess whether the basic car is sound, and spend a bit more on repairs, mainly to the suspension, steering, and braking. I have chosen to do the latter because I do value my life, and my wallet. I suppose one would query the sense of spending £850 on a car worth a grand, but at this stage of my life, it makes sense.

Totally agree, and thanks to every one for setting me straight. I guess I asked the question because I had doubts and inferior knowledge.

I wouldn't query that notion as it may cost a great deal more than £850 to replace the car.

I know this as I have done likewise and have no regrets. In my case about 4 times the oriignal value of the car!
