I have recently acquired a set of vey nice 16" Alloys for my 124. I notice that the front right hand side of my bumper is about 1/2 an inch too far back into the wheel arch. As a result when I drive through a dip in the road at a mederate speed the wheel catches the bumper corner. I have read the Haynes manual and know how to take off the bumper, thats not a problem. But does anyone here know if there is any adjustment fore and aft of the bumper? I would hate to see it caressing the underside of the car.

If it's like the W210 you will find that depending on how tight you tighten the front fixings will dictate how far back the bumper sits on either side. There is also loads of allowance in the side retainers to allow for positioning both laterally and vertically.

Many thanks for the info Dieselman, will do it tomorrow and post the results.

Well update time, adjusted bumper (thanks dieselman) but woe is me, can see daylight through the wing at the join, lots of rust so its going to have to be a new wing very soon. I will post a tutorial if anyone is interested.
