G Wagen

Does anyone know anything about this one at all?

It's been on and off sale for ever it seems.

Thanks

I suppose it's hard to sell a 28 year old land rover defender for £18,000... :\

I really don't get the G series...

I dont know anything about this one specifically but I have noticed quite a few cheaper G's recently - including a few at auctions (Brightwells for example) that have sold fairly cheap.
Thought worth mentioning as I am not sure they are selling for as high as advertised.
Low miles this one of course, but so are some others.
I know it is a generalisation for what its worth! No recent examples to share per se.

Of course it will be very slow to sell. It's a 300D. The dinosaurs evolved, waxed, took flight, waned and were wiped out long before this would reach 60.

i was sold for shade under 6k and the dealer thinks he can sell it for 17k toooo much

Thats the sort of thing I have seen at times ... quite a few with ok miles around 8k thats for sure.

Yes...the 300GE only takes to when they took flight....:D Much quicker:p

It's the Ebay way. Advertise it for long enough and somebody will probably buy it.

What a great forum this is - all these replies in no time at all.

Thanks chaps

I was pondering that all those £'s would hopefully guarantee a solid body allowing someone having too much optimism and too little common sense to fit (well, more like have fitted) an engine having rather more power and new seats, etc.

A bit like the one Jay sold a while back for example??

Hmm.....I wouldn't bet on it, I've seen tidier examples priced a lot lower. Frankly I think that one's a bit rough.

Is it near you?

ETA: Check out the cost and availability of spares before you consider doing one up.

Ok....this one was was discussed on GWOA recently. Here's a bit of information about it:

"Supplied to West Sussex Fire and Rescue.

They have 12 others, Super Gs, twincabs with body on back. This was the only standard G they had and was used as a TRU. It was on lease and went back in in December 2013, others are all owned. It had done 114k and something when it went back and had no mechanical problems.

It is registered as a fire engine and is tax exempt, it will therefore need to be re-registered as a PLG.

It went through Brightwells in July and made 8k. It was then booked back in a couple of weeks ago but withdrawn at the last minute.

It has now turned up there and they have let a monkey repaint it.

As well as the holes on the rear panels it has a number of holes on the roof.

Worth about 10k, no more."

Is the yellow one around still? That was ultra low miles so perfect for a conversion.
Also might be worth checking what's in Japan?

I think it's a status thing in Japan to have RHD?

Nearly there....the status thing is to have a LHD. Weird...but there we are:D
