Since I’ve seen a few guys here talk about GAD tuning, etc... I gave them a call about 3 weeks ago to see what they can do to an 171 SLK55 AMG.

The guy I spoke to sounded optimistic quoting figures of around 70hp from just a remap so I was thinking really? That can't be right?

When I spoke to Ray @ west tuning and Jerry at Eurocharged they were quoting figures of around 30hp.

So I asked how? and can they prove it on the dyno and he said yes, your slk55 has exactly the same engine as the latest model hence why we can get that much power..

So then I figured these guys don't have a clue and I’m not letting them touch my AMG.

I said that isn’t correct they are different engines... so he went and asked his colleague and his colleague confirmed they are the same engines so I said I am 100% sure they are not the same engines… he goes wait I think the system is wrong, let me call you back... still waiting for a call to tell them No thanks.

Anyway my question is, are they really the same engines? I am starting to doubt my self, I thought the 172 AMG’s share the same engine as the 5.5l bi-turbo you find in the bigger cars... CLS,CL’s,E’s? and the 171 AMG's share the same engine as the Kompressor cars minus the kompressor.

Re my tune I guess I’ll have to wait for Jerry to come back to the UK, hopefully not too long.

The R172 uses the M152 engine which is as you say based on the M157 Biturbo engine, the R171 uses the M113 engine.

But from what I can see even if there right or wrong! you seem a bit of an idiot straight away coming on a forum and talking rubbish rather than getting it sorted and its not like you have even had it mapped from them???

I doubt he'd want to take it to be remapped at a place where they're not certain what engine type they're working on...

And calling someone an idiot doesn't reflect well on you.

Well I'm sure no one on this forum cares what you think either. In what way would you like to sort this out face to face, sounds like your getting brave behind a keyboard.

Benzedup is a respected member of this forum and is free to post anything he likes. I beleave there is truth in what he has said.

Maybe it was just a simple mistake, but what ever the reason it should be sorted out with benzedup. You seem to want to sort this out in an amicable way. But it's hungryboy who tarnishes what you have said, as I see it he probably is affiliated with you company.

I feel obliged to post here... I can personally vouch that although in this instance mistakes have been made the guys at GAD are being given a generally rough ride. We worked very closely with them on the development of the mapping on our C350CDI and dynoed the results as proof.

Anthony and Gary are nice guys and although we admittedly had a number of teething issues with a couple of other staff there we now have a good relationship with them.

TBH the only real pain that seens to keep rearing its head is Hungryboy. If fact he took great pleasure in getting Matt banned from MBO for posting the results of the CDI tuning...

Hopefully Benzedup will have a chance to clear the air with them or please feek feee ti chat to me aswell..

Was it him that got Matt banned ?

I wondered who it was !

Long commute from Essex to Leeds ! Wow !

Bawhahahahaha !

Detective SavMan !

Good work :thumb:

To answer Hungryboy's question in post 4, yes I have dealt with GAD and met them personally. I would echo Phil@Rebellion's comments they are not only a nice group of people but real enthusiast's.

As to this thread it would seem on the face of things that a number of rules have been broken I will close the thread until after further discussions. If appropriate it will be reopened.

GAD tuning banned - Circumventing the rules is not good internet etiquette and it will get you nowhere.
