Garage snaped injector bolt

I've phoned a few times today but not managed to get hold of him! But there's only 2 of them there so chances are they were busy
If i don't get any joy tomorrow ill call in after work find out what there doing!

Should be, but some cowboys put them back in. A nice surprise for the next person who try's to undo it.

I think that's what happened! I've only had the car and year and the amount of carbon build up suggests it's been leaking for at least that long. I'm suspecting the previous owner (or more likely the garage i bought it from) has just over tightened the bolt in attempt to stop the leak.
I bought a new set of bolts and washers so they wouldn't be tempted to reuse it but I guess they didn't get the chance as apparently even though they preheated the engine it snapped in the first quarter turn

Thats how easily a small job turns into a nightmare, it's neither your fault or the garage trying to repair it now. It might be worth asking them to renew all the injector bolts and seals whilst they have the specialist out, at least you know it wont be an issue again.

I did consider that to be honest!

And recut the injector seats if they need it, plus Honda injector seal are often used rather than MB. Apparently they are a bit thicker and give a more effective crush, making them less prone to leaking.

You may then disturb the seal of washers to head.
I replaced all on mine, and cleaned the surfaces for the new copper washers to mate to. But I had the engine out so was common sense to really.

So before i tell you
How much should drilling out the bolt installed helicoil, and re-seat the 3 remaining injectors as well as a oil change be?

I got charged £345 but he also changed the leakoff connectors because 1 of the clips snapped on removal, so despite originally I was quoted 2 hour work it's about right for what he's actually done!

Leak off pipe is close to £100 if genuine part so to be fair that's a decent price including all the above.

If the garage had to take a loss every time this happened, they'll be out of business pretty quickly.

In my experience, you usually get warned about such potential pitfalls in advance, but even if they didn't warn you, it's still unreasonable to expect the garage to incur the cost.

Over the years , I've snapped one spark plug in a M110 , and two of the infamous M-B extended wheel bolts , one I managed to drill out enough to get the wheel off and then extract what was left from the hub ; the second one proved impossible without wrecking the wheel .

So ive had the car back a few days and last night sat in traffic I saw a wisp of smoke coming from the front of the car!
No sure if it was me or the exhaust of the car in front I carried on but it had my attention enough to check it out when I got home and I discovered this!

I phoned the guy back up sending him the video and he said even though he took the valve cover off to drill the bolt he put a new gasket on so this must be a new problem! Probably with a pressure release valve in the valve cover so it probably needs a new valve cover! And to fit that the injectors need to come out again and that comes with the risk of more snapped bolts!
I can't find any information online about a pressure valve! And if you look closer where the smoke is coming from you can see that the gasket appears missing! Gasket not seated right or wrong gasket?
Is he bullshiting me or does this ring true?

Are they planning on charging you the full cost? Or have they taken some responsibility? Obviously, it's not a clear cut case either way.

Is it me, or does it look like the gasket is in place, but in that area is folded back under the cover, and therefore not sat in the correct position hence the leak?
i.e. does this look like a fitting mistake? That's what I'm seeing. IF so, then the garage should cover the refitting of a new gasket. I say new, and not just repositioning, because the existing gasket could well be damaged now and leaving in place is not worth the risk.
