Gear selector indicator light up?

Hello all
Out of curiosity does or should the auto gear selector indicator light up in the dark? You know the black strip next to the gear knob?
On some cars it does but mine doesn't car is a c204 , 2011?

I have the same problem with my E320 2004 . Can someone advise is there a bulb under the panel?

Push firmly on the top right side of the PRNDL display. If it lights up, it's a bad solder connection. Easy to fix if you know how to Kodi nox solder. I can talk you through it.

Many thanks for assistance but local garage fitted a replacement unit
