Well after getting my ATF fluid changed and noticing a marked improvement in the gear changes, (thanks alf230). I recommend anyone with a 7g box who hasn't done this at the required 37,500 mile interval and who is experiencing a few harsh shifts to do so) I thought what is my CLS lacking? And the answer came to me more power
.
Now 224bhp is nothing to laugh at especially coming from a W203 C180k but if the potential for more is available then why not use it? Now I have been doing my research and have noticed a few things:
1) Brabus do a tuning box for the CLS 320cdi which will increase the BHP to 272.
2) Angel, West tuning and MSL in Birmingham are all reputable companies used by members on this forum who can increase the BHP to roughly the same and also delimit the car and also supposedly increase economy.
But I was thinking has anyone on here combined the two together? In other words getting the Brabus chip and then a remap on top of that? What are the possible consequences I face with regards to strain on the gearbox and engine? My car has 58,000 on the clock will this be a problem?
I know the max torque rating for a 7g box is 700nm (thanks diesalman) so if the brabus chip adds lets say 100nm of torque (being very optimistic here) and the remap adds another 75nm we are still around the 680nm mark still not over the limit and the BHP should be around 300.
So my fellow MBclubers please chime in and im going to see if I can make my CLS's one of the fastest in the UK.
