Ghost Wiper?

Okay got a very strange problem with the wiper and it’s not the typical problem with the w202 that I’m sure every w202 owner knows about.

Completely randomly the wiper clicks across the screen, it used to be just one flick but now it goes on for a few minutes or so?

I don’t have rain sensors so it cant be something to do with that, the only way I can get it to stop sometimes is to switch the wipers on and then off again, and that only works sometimes as well…?

Dodgy switch? Maybe time for a new steering column stalk? I presume the switch is wired back to a relay which then powers the wiper motor so I would check the relay and if possible the stalk switch for any short circuits.

Hi Shaz, I had the same problem on my w116. It was the Stalk. I was in S.Africa at the time, so I just disconnected the fuse till I got a new one. Which was ok there, hardly ever rained....lol.....
