Went to look at this today and its really nice. Interior is a bit dated as it looks almost like the interior in my 6 year old E class. Its massive and you'll have trouble parking. Rear visibility is also very poor. It looks every part a gangsta or footballers car.

Tempted to put down a deposit. May have been blagging but dealer said its a 3-5 month wait for a factory ordered one or a £7k premium on stock cars.

The front definitely looks of that genre i.e. bulky and aggressive but the rear is an absolute mess; the bumper looks like it doesn't belong on that body. I passed a GLA on the motorway earlier today and that was even worse on the back end, just a horrible design with far too much going on for the eye to make sense of.

I really like the way Mercedes are going with the front end of their vehicles but it's as though the rear is designed of a completely pen.

Shop around. Then go back if you want too. It's not a car that will demand a premium in my opinion its niche, I do like them but like the x6 they will be seen as a marmite car and once the demo's go up for sale in 3 month I am sure there will be deals. They had one in white just down the road from lakeside in the Southend dealership looked good.

Or you could lease one for £800 a month! LOL!!

Saw one in Moscow yesterday.... hmmm... looks OK here but in UK... not so sure.. :)

Prefer a Lexus RX or Infiniti QX70 personally.

These are my thoughts as well. Mercedes really seems to have issues with their current rear designs.
I personally think that A, CLA, GLA (worst rear of all), C (saloon) and even the new GLC are suffering from this, especially when they're not having some fancy AMG package attached to them.

That's why I would pick the E-Class anytime, its design is well thought out and remains true to its roots - if that makes sense. And that applies to all of its versions :thumb:

I think the GLE is a sole copy of the X6 and hearing that it's got an outdated interior, there wouldn't be one reason for me to buy that thing, even if I had the money and were into those, well, tanks.

What model are you looking for specifically?

Never been a fan of diesel but I wont get the 450 petrol because that may be hard to shift in the future.

I'd love a GLE 350d AMG Line Premium Plus pack + the rear entertainment system. I would also have to spec it with the driving assistance package which although I have no need for (I like to drive my cars), will most likely be be sought after by any future buyers

Premium Plus Pack adds:
Harman Kardon
Comfort Access
Panoramic roof
Illuminated side steps/rails

Just out of interest, do you use a particular sales person at Jardine Lakeside? On the whole, we find them pretty helpful…as long as we bypass the useless so-and-so's at the service desk!

Unfortunately no. I dont change my cars often enough to build any sort of relationship with the sales chaps.

The chances of me buying (if my man maths works out) this from them is almost zero. 6 years ago when I wanted to buy my current car, they wouldnt discuss discounts or even give me a call back despite the fact we were deep in a recession

I just use them for servicing/MOT and seeing cars in the flesh.

Clifford at the service desk is quite helpful.

With the exception of the OP, this is how I envisage the owners of a car like this; their bloated looks seem to compliment one another!

Palmball just bagged one of the GLE63 coupes that was destined to be a dealer demonstrator I believe. He's shared some details on pistonheads about it already.

With the exception of the OP and Palmball!!

Personally prefer the non coupe GLE back end...

November for a factory order currently. You won't get one any sooner, especially with those specs

You are probably right but I remember similar things being said of the X6 and that commanded a premium for a while and residuals were very good for this type of car.
