I've recently placed an order for a new GLE 450, and the salesman at the dealers has told me that MB has placed a temporary embargo on new GLE's - is anyone aware of this?

So that's a bit strange then - I've specified the car and options, colour etc., signed the order and paid the deposit, after all that then the sales guy says about the embargo - maybe he's hedging me waiting 4/5 months instead of getting one in the dealership group? I'll call Stratford MB tomorrow and see if they know what's going on. Just sounds odd to me.
If you look at the thread - What do you want to know by JBD, you’ll see that some new models sometimes have delays whilst the new emission documentation’s / registrations are made. He will also know if the GLE is currently effected.

I’ve had a look in more detail and our mid April build 450’s do have an HQ blocking operation on them, but that’s nothing unusual.
The factory block production of cars all the time for scheduling and part supply reasons. Just be patient with your dealer, it’s not something they can influence. They change on a daily basis, so it’s unlikely to be something that’ll cause a big delay and they’ll prioritise delivery if it does
