Goodbye 230TE

:( Really sorry to here of your misfortune, :( I can't offer any advise, but God bless Mercedes for keeping you safe at least

Like Brian I've just seen this thread today Norman. Hope all is getting better as it can anyway despite circumstances.

Lots of excellent advise already re your likely claim. Also correct in that the legal cover is who fights for you effectively.

Despite the fatality its still pertinant to ensure you are ok. I dont mean today but going forward etc. ie make sure you have been checked over re back, whiplash etc for medical cover/claim in the next few months - hopefully never necessary but you know what I mean.

Re your car, it may be 'worth' not much by the book but its also about getting a near replacement on the road too. Remembering that its the other insurers that will be directory liable not your own so dont get into a wrangle with your own.

Do the research, be prepared and the best of luck, stay well.

Sorry to hear of your problems, but glad you are ok. Any help needed to look at new motor or getting to anywhere to look at one give me a yell and see what we can arrange (may let you drive mine to get the feel of a 210 with big wheels and tyres). Take care mate.

Accidents and recovery

Norman, sorry to hear about your accident. I was involved in a fatal myself, as a passenger and can only advise to get yourself 100% physically recovered ASAP. I thought I got away with it but collasped 15 months later due to a neck injury from the whiplash. Having spent 2 months in a very dark state of mind - the NHS was happy to go along with my thought of a stroke, even though I am a very fit 46 year-old - until I discovered my neck had been damaged by the impact.
If you have a few niggles, physical or otherwise, go and see an expert and get sorted. Ironically I'd written off my minor damages claim a few weeks before the 'attack' happened and have paid £100s since to chiropracters, ostiopaths, acupunturists, healers etc.
I hope this helps, good luck with your recovery.
Richard

First of all, I just wanted to thank all forum members for their thoughts, kind words and advice offered to me over the last couple of weeks.

I am well on the mend, walking without a stick at last but the old chest is a wee bit painful still. I am OK breathing and whatnot but a cough or a sneeze is a ******** disaster! (So I try not to do that ;) ). The fracture and the bruised tissue surrounding it have quietened down but not yet sufficiently for me to exert myself - so I am taking it very easy. It is frustrating as I really would love to go out for a blast on the bike but I could not lift it off (and back on!) the stand. Still, I am really grateful to be alive and in the scheme of things I got off bloody lightly - thanks in no small part to my old Merc.

I have just bought Tims E320 which I have posted elsewhere as a X reference. I will get round to changing the sig to something more cheerful - soon.

Once again - thanks to you all. :) But a special thanks to Pete (Uncle Fester) who chauffered me round the South looking at some 230/320/and 320Cdis last Saturday. We we were in the car all day and IIRC covered 230 odd miles!
Peter is a most generous individual who is as patient as he is generous - thanks Pete and I hope this does not embarrass you more than you deserve - You are a top bloke!! :bannana: :bannana:

Well done Norman - New car and hopefully better luck mate. :bannana:

I can be nice at times, and now Norman has got a Silver car, I'm going to have to reappraise my interpretation of silver as a colour. I think Norman got a really great car, and he is looking forward to being able to drive it without any discomfort from the accident. There was no genourosity involved, I was just doing the same as i hope someone would do for me in a similar situation.
