Greetings - can anyone help

Hi there,

A new member, I recently took ownership of a 52 plate 500SL. A lovely looking car that drove well when I first bought it however, now I'm having problems and need some help.

First - the passenger side dipped beam. Ive seen it discussed on this forum and I recently replaced the control module however within a day I'm now experiencing the same problem. To get a new module I had to buy the whole lamp (now I'm poor) MB told me you couldnt buy the module separetely? However, now I have the same problem - any clues?

Secondly - I thought the brakes were a little sharp when I first drove the car. However, a mechanic has now informed me that the suspension ball joint (fixed to the bottom of the suspesion struts) has excessive wear and the banging is that not the brakes. Tears now!

First, can anyone advise me about the dipped beam issue?

welcome. Sorry to hear about the problems you are having with your car. Have you tried taking the car to an independent mercedes garage?

I'm so glad that someone has replied to one my messages, thanks for that.

Yes, I'm using MB&B an independent in Cheltenham - good chaps. I'm taking the car back into them tomorrow to have another look at the lights.

The other issues - I'm discussing these and the garage I bought the car from with Trading Standards!
