Put my car in for MOT forgetting completly that the parking brake pedal is moving far to far and far too easily, the pedal aslo does not return, garage ars saying that they normally have to change the complete pedal unit at £100 for the unit alone plus labour. I guess the cables need changing as the movment must be related to this, anyone had the same problem? Bit of quick advise ? Its on my c270 on a 02

Assuming that it is the MB standard design there are adjusters on both the rear wheels to move the shoes closer to the drums and you would need to release the automatic adjuster under the rear seat before attempting this, never heard of cables being replaced certainly at that age and never heard of a pedal unit failing. Adjust the shoes first and then see what happens.

Shoes & Drums eh??

Not seen any of those for a while! ;)

I expect it is just out of adjustment. Quite often the cable falls out of the mechanism under the seat.

The handbrake on my 2005 CL has drum brakes. Discs for stopping drum for parking.:thumb:
