Hard to watch to the very end.

Saw it on the BBC website .

I hope the video will make some people think about the manner of their driving ; fortunately most people don't end up the way these two did .

The video also illustrates why insurance is so expensive for young males .

Certainly a sad one.

I can remember doing some silly driving myself in my younger years but I guess I was lucky.

Adding drugs in to the mix is certainly never going to end well.

How horribly sad.....

I can remember driving around in the early 80's having smoked my own bodyweight in grass - we never went over 8 miles an hour and thought we were breaking the sound barrier. Happy days...!

I have sympathy for the family but not for those killed. I may not be perfect but I've never driven under the influence and I've never done 90mph in a built up area, doing both is a recipe for disaster. It's just a blessing they didn't kill an innocent member of the public.

I have to say , they don't sound like a very nice pair of guys ...

Forcing a taxi off the road , taunting a lorry by stopping and then speeding off as he tries to go round them.

Doughnuts earlier

They sound like a right pair of chavs on the video , horrible boys. 'No old bill round here mate'

Got their come-uppance. Shame

Indeed...

...and just to clarify what I meant above - 90mph in a built-up 30mph is well off par was something I never did or even considered - even at 20...

Recipe for disaster indeed - especially once you introduce drugs.

I didn't listen to the whole clip I must admit - just focussed on the end a la OP's subject.

Having listened to the whole thing, it does alter one's opinion, regardless of reality (and what I mean by that is - how much did the cocktail of drugs play a part in turning them in to a pair of berks and were they otherwise "alright" individuals...).

I don't know...

I have done a few stupid things as a youth... although nothing quite like this I must admit.

They would have grown out of this testosterone-fueled and drug-fueled bravado and eventually become productive members of soceity.

Many youngsters do these sort of things; some get killed, or kill others; some just get caught and get in trouble; but most are lucky and survive through it.

The real issue is that young people drink too much, and that they take drugs. And I don't think that simply dismissing them as 'Chavs' is helpful in tackling the core issue.

Natural selection in operation right there.

I did and I'm still here to tell the tale, I was about 18 and there were seven of us in an Astra GTE on the way back from a boozer out in the sticks when the driver (who was drunk) completely misjudged a mini roundabout and we ended up teetering over the edge of a ditch which had just had railings fitted the week before. Those railing saved our lives.

The obvious difference between me and these lads is that they paid the ultimate price for their youthful foolishness. He without sin etc...

Their behaviour (driver particularly) was obviously stupid and led to the outcome but given their family have been thoughtful enough to permit the clip be made public in an effort to help save others from the same fate, slagging off their offspring is hardly fair on them while they are grieving their loss.

I too had my escapades doing stupid things in cars during my youth ( eg : having a 'push of war' with my Triumph Herald bumper to bumper with a pal's Fiat Panda ; or playing 'follow my leader' in Edinburgh during the middle of the night where a dozen or so CB equipped cars would go the wrong way round roundabouts , up one way streets or through petrol stations ) but it was all relatively harmless stuff and although we may have dented each other's bangers now and then , no one was ever hurt .

Mind you , most of the cars available to youngsters back then were relatively slow , so less potential for bad crashes .

I do have some sympathy for the two boys killed , they were barely out of childhood .

They have paid dearly for their mistakes , sadly their loved ones will go on paying in grief for some time .

Driving way above the speed limit unlicenced and under the influence of illegal drugs is not youthful high spirits its criminal behaviour and it would innaccurate to regard the two behaviours in the same light . In terms of whether releasing the video would have any effect on the future behaviour of young drivers of the same age only they can answer that one. For a generation brought up on a daily diet of Grand Theft Auto I suspect not.

Show a bit of compassion lads.

You wouldn't pass comment like this to the parents of these two so hold your tongues on the internet as well.

Whilst I feel sorry for their family left behind I have no compassion or sympathy at all for the two individuals. They took a decision to drive while intoxicated and without a license. It's a miracle they did not kill someone else and I am glad they are no longer around to do it again, regardless of whether they would have grown out of it in the future. It's not a bloody computer game where you can reset and start again.

So do you think that drug taking should carry the death sentence? If so, move to Indonesia. Otherwise that's what you are advocating. Yes their actions were wilfully stupid, but if every person that acted stupidly was put to death there wouldn't be much of humanity left!

The Mother of one of those killed was on the TV news last night. Distraught does not do her justice. She came across well and said she had absolutely no idea why they did what they did. Her message and that of the relatives who all agreed to release this video was to hopefully show other the potential results and possible consequences of your actions should you chose to follow this path.

There was no defending or blaming of others. Just a devastated mother.

Show this to your kids. In doing so you help the family spread the message and may just stop somebody else.

I don't think anyone is saying they should have died, just that there isn't much sympathy that they did.
