Head gasket or Not?? Confused!!

Maybe I wasnt that helpful before. :(

Grab the fan and see if there is any play in the water pump bearing. If there is any movement of the pulley then you may have a leak past the bearings.

Oil leaks from the head gaskets are very common on the 111 engine (you have this). It is worth getting a "sniffer" test done of the coolant.

yes it looks like the water pump bearing has gone

take car fror spin run up to temp

get home turn of engine and open bonnet and look for a leak

its a easy fix if it is

they all leak a little oil from head gasket at that point on engine its ok leave alone but get pump changed

as above with engine off rock fan and i bet you have play on bearing

hey horgantrevor,
i did drive the car for quite a while and then stop and open bonnet and checked with both engine off and on but i couldnt really see the leak as such.
i shall have a look at the bearing on the water pump and get back to you guys.
thanks

is the termostat on top of the pump with plastic of metal cover, there was problem and the fix is changing to a metal cover, also the heater works and u do not have water under the carpets, as it could heater matrix is leaking

hello dinoy

now water under carpets as yet. the thermostat has a metal cover but i have had a good look at it when the engine has been running for a while and nothing seems to be leaking from there. i think like many people here do that its the water pump. hence i will do a pressure test and take things from there.

Okay update!!

Been told it is the WATER PUMP leaking!!

Is this a job I could do at home or something a indie should do?
Any specialist tools I would need? Anyone done one of these water pump changes...how long am I looking at?

Cheers
Ash
