Headlight replacement w210 E55 AMG

Hi everyone,

I'm getting my first W210 AMG E55 at the weekend, but it seems to have a problem-both headlights are dull, and there is water condensation behind the drivers headlight. Because of this someone has taken a drill to them and drilled 2 holes to let the water out !
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Can you get the plastic covers replaced instead of the whole unit (over £500 quoted by MB).
Are the aftermarket replacement headlights any good eg Hella

look on fleabay you can buy polishing kits to restore the headlamp covers to their former glory, alternativley look on you tube for solutions, or indeed do a search on this forum

Meguiars headlight restoration kits are £19. 99 from Halfords and do a reasonable job if you put in the time and work. Allow around an hour for each light if they are really poor.

Failing this, a bodyshop can buff them up far better and shouldn't charge very much. I had my W210 headlights done for £20 a while ago.

The last solution would be to get some in decent condition either from eBay or a Mercedes breaker.
