Does anyone know how to use the headlight washers on bi-xenon headlights?
Thanks

Assuming they're like every other car in the universe, they wash when they're on and you wash the windscreen BUT it's not every time and I believe Mercedes idea of once every... is far less often than most.

That's not meant to sound facetious in case it does, just that's how all the headlight washers on other cars I've had worked.

Hmm, I've never seen it happen and the headlights are always dirty.
On my old car it used to be that after a continuous press of the stalk, roughly 8 seconds it will activate the headlight one.

I'll ask someone to press it 5 times and stand outside and watch.

According to the US version of the manual for the original CLS it is every 15 times, if yours is like that it's no wonder you've never seen them!

Both our CLK and SLK have a separate switch near the headlight switch. Have to say I have never used them so dont even know if they work.

Once every 'x' number of times seems a bit of a design flaw to my mind. What happens if you need to clean the lights urgently. Can it be changed though Star?

I can't say I've ever encountered a situation when I've felt I needed to clean the the lights urgently, but if I ever do I'll stop the car, get out, and give them a wipe.

Unfortunately the "blast" type headlamp wash systems use large quantities of water, so if they worked every time you washed the screen you'd spend much more time looking for a tap.

Personally, never been overly convinced by them as they dont shift the layer that the bulbs have burnt on but they would shift a load of crap that's literally just been sprayed on the light from a passing tractor or something.

The old style ones with actual wipers were much better but obviously have issues of their own.

I thought that they get washed the first time you use the screenwash and then every 3rd time after that. I still clean the headlamps manually at least once a week as you get to notice, especially on country lanes, a gradual deterioration in visibility

Hi
I contacted MB about this last week. The headlamp washers operate automatically every 10 windscreen washes. This is reset for each journey and the dealers cannot reprogram the system.

Unless your axle deep in muddy water I cant imagine your heads getting that dirty?

On the 202 C class, it washes and wipes the headlights everytime the screen is washed whilst the headlights/dipped beam are on.

Hi The headlights on my CLK230 are looking grubby and almost opaque or yellowish I was wondering id anyone had any suggestions for clelaning them. I have tried cleaning form the outside but this has not worked. Thanks in advance

The W211 had a push button near the lights rotary control. Worked whenever needed, I would use it sometimes to entertain grandkids and pedestrians!
