I’ve seen a few posts on here about heated seat bases not working whilst the backs do.
Has anyone successfully fixed the issue? If so what did you do and what was the problem?
Thanks

Well I am sure we had a couple of guys repair their seats,if I remember they bought a kit from ebay, and then removed the seat from the car and then removed the base cover and replaced the heated seat matrix and then spliced the wires from the new heated seat onto the existing wire feeding the seat by doing that they continued to use the mercedes connections.

I think this is because someone knelt on the seat at some point and this damages the pad?

I did this job on a Volvo, it was a pig to do, had to remove seat base and strip the covering off before replacing the heating element, using a new part from Volvo, can't remember the exact price but well over £100. Worked properly afterwards but never looked quite "right" compared to before. Probably best left to an upholsterer.

My mechanic looked at the seats today and reckons the base isn’t heated as the wires don’t go there.
I’m not so sure.
I have got the basic multi contour seats with the four air pump switches. Is it possible they’re not?
I don’t think so!

I dont have heated seats on my CLK, but my family members cars do, notably I recall being in a R171 SLK, and i can assure you the bottom heated up, as well as the back.
Not sure if its model specific

I did exactly this on my CL, took a couple of hours. Would easily do it again.

I have a 2004 CLK320 and I can assure you both the back and seat heat up to the point it cooks your bum!

It depends on the vehicle. Some Mercedes have separate heater pads that can be replaced. Some they are sewn into the leather and you can add a retrofit pad and cut and splice the wiring, but its never as good as original (and you lose some of the clips that hold the leather to the base as the pad doesnt have holes in the right places etc

We do quite a few at www.comand.co.uk

Hi.
The base on mine seems to have stopped working on the drivers side. Do you reckon this would be covered under warranty???
Thanks guys.

Mercedes new car warranty - 100% - Mercedes used car warranty i'd expect yes, - other warranty - maybe.

Cheers

Great. Thanks. Might give them a call then. It’s merc warranty. Car 3 years in March. Better get it sorted before then.

I had heated seats in a SAAB 99 some years ago, They really weren't up to much, it always felt as if I'd wet meself . The Merc ones in my CLK are great, bolster and back, well pleased.

Been there so many times now, done the Volvo, done the Jeep, Done a BMW 7 and done a Vito.... :D

I replied to another post on this not too long ago.
CLS63 seats heat on backrest but not base, it's the same on the passenger side.
There was another forum member with the same car where the seats did exactly the same.
It kind of left me resigned to accept that's how they are, I guess getting it checked out at the dealer might be the only way to get a definitive answer.

Look heated seats are just that the whole seat should heat up,lets face it the bottom of the seat is the bit you actually want to heat up if anything ,so your CLS 63 heated seats have gone wrong as both seats are effected then it might be a simple replacement of a part ,good idea to get a star on the problem,of course I suppose it is possible that a child has used your seats as a trampoline and broken both the seat bottoms but it would seem unlikely.
