Does anyone have these seats fitted?

Does the ventilation/cooling really make a difference?

It doesnt blow a gale force wind up your backside, you can hardly feel the airflow, but its certainly more comfortable on a long journey...

No sweaty back then? ;)

Moving on a bit..

Which would you prefer ..

Ventilated

or

Dynamic/Orthopaedic

You have to drive in the nude to feel the benefit of ventilated seats IME.

Dynamic seats are a better compromise.

Are we to read this as first hand experience?

Until recently I would have said that the ventilated seats aren't worth it. I have them in my new C350 Sport Saloon and initially couldn't really tell if they were doing anything. But we've actually had a bit of summer over the last couple of weeks and I have to say that after leaving the car parked out in the sun for a couple of hours they are wonderful. I very much doubt that you'd get any benefit sitting in the car wearing thick jeans and a heavy coat, but then why would you want cool seats in winter? However, in lightweight trousers and a T-shirt they provide a luxurious coolness that's wonderful. And none of that sticky/sweaty/uncomfortableness that usually accompanies driving on a hot day, A/C or not. So yes, they finally get a thumbs up from me.

I had the ventilated system in my old E55. I loved them to bits. On hot days I could use the sunroof and the seats would keep me cool
Whilst it wasn't really necessary it was a very nice toy :)

Unless they are nappa!

I was waiting for that.

Nappa is just a softer leather, usually sheepskin, but is still pigmented and sealed with polyurethane paint and sealer.

ALL car seat leather is classed as pigmented leather.

I was curious about this so asked an expert on Saturday... ;)

I had ventilated on the Saab. Found them great for getting read of a sweaty back on hot day syndrome.

The expert I spoke with told me it lacked the polyurethane paint and wasn't sealed.
We should agree to disagree I think..

All leathers can be simple skins, but NO car seat or furniture leather is as it would soil instantly.

ALL car seat leather is pigmented leather, hence the smooth finish.

Back on topic, does the ventilation system actually take chilled air from the a/c or simply recirculate cabin air? Some descriptors say ventilated and cooled seats..
