Folks. My wife's W203 Estate has got the dreaded "clicking" which seems to be coming from above the passenger glove box. It is very loud and sounds like a metronome clicking away for about a minute after you start up. It is affecting the hot/cold air flow making it difficult to set a constant temp inside the car.

Is this a dashboard out job? Or. Is there a way to get around stripping down the entire dashboard (removing the radio etc to repair the damage. I am guessing a gear has snapped or a lever had broken?

It depends on which flap / lever is broken, some faults can be repaired without dashboard removal, I believe that Star can usually pinpoint the faulty area.

It sounds like the charcoal flap.

That's a dash out job. Its not tricky just time consuming.

9 is the official time.

I have a cheats method once for half the time if customers wants it. I remove the dash and the remove the damaged cog. No more clicking but the charcoal flap will not work.
