Hope someone can help me, the heater in my SLK350 has stopped working!! I found a really helpful guy on UTube explaining how to remove the heater and clean it up which is what I've done however after putting it back together the heater seems to have a life of it own "scary". Has anyone else experienced this problem ?? It carrys on running after the engine is off :dk:

Can anyone please point me in the right direction as to where I can find either a reconditioned heater or a new one which isn't going to cost a fortune. Also had problems with the door hinges replaced them 18 months ago on the driver side cost a small fortune but they are both making noises now, again is this a common fault with the car. Thanks for your help ;)

Sorry, can't help on the heater, but...
Also had problems with the door hinges replaced them 18 months ago on the driver side cost a small fortune but they are both making noises now, again is this a common fault with the car.
Assuming you're talking about an R171, then my experience is that the door hinges aren't problematic. Has it had a shunt and something's out of alignment, either on the A-post or the door?

Yes its an R171 and no its not been any shunt, I've had the car almost 6 years now just seems strange that the door hinges have become noisy again.

Thanks for your reply though

When you say the "Heater" isn't working do you mean the blower motor or the actual heat? Motors are common as the plenum gets blocked and water leaks into the motor, main dealer only for the motor and their not cheap, hinges are also common, do they make a cracking sound? Nothing can be done bar replacing.
