Evening all!

It’s been a while since I’ve been on here, 2019 to be precise, due to selling the W211.

Hopefully I’m about to return to the fold, looking at a 2013 E350 Cdi Bluetec Convertible (facelift model) tomorrow at my local MB dealer and wondered what issues, if any, to look out for as I’m not familiar with this model.

It has full MB service history, 2 previous owners and has covered 50k

Looking forward to hearing your pearls of wisdom.

Leigh.

Hi Leigh,

Welcome back

Have you still got your R129? I remember your old W210 E55 and some of the others.

Can’t offer a great deal of knowledge on your new (potential) purchase but I did about 400 miles in an E350CDI cabriolet when they first came out (all in one afternoon/evening) and it seemed quite long legged. Torquey, pretty quick and smooth.

Remember the 207 is based on the C-class 204 chassis - not the 212 (a bit like how the CLK was). Shouldn’t be a problem yet but I think W204s have a bit of a reputation for subframe issues (corrosion). Could be worth bearing in mind.

Good luck, hopefully it’s a good one :thumb:

Hey Will, good to hear from you.

I sold the R129 quite a few years ago now, must be 6 or 7 I guess. It was a money pit to be honest but a lovely looking car.

Thanks for the info, I didn’t know it was based on the 204 chassis. I’ve seen the service history which is all MB and noticed it said the rust through warranty was still valid. I’m not sure if this just refers to the external bodywork or includes the chassis etc as well. Something to ask when I go tomorrow.

They did tell me they wouldn’t normally retail a car of that age but had decided to because it’s such a nice one with such low mileage. I have already seen it but couldn’t drive it due to the wheels being refurbed and it being on axle stands, it does seem to be a good one, no previous advisories on the MOT history relating to any corrosion.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Cheers,

Leigh.
