Hello folks.

I've already benefited from reading the various forum threads so I thought it time I joined-up.

My membership qualification is a 2002 C32 AMG Estate while the lady of the house bumbles around in an A160 Elegance because "it's easy to park and you can open the doors in Tesco-sized parking spaces". Other than that she misses her faithful old Saab.

I also miss some of my faithful old Saabs but I don't miss the later, less faithful, GM influenced ones.

But be very careful if you're sniggering at the thought of Saab loyalty - there once was a time when Mercedes owners envied their reliability and build quality.

Apart from occasional excursions into more productive means of earning a crust I've been kicking around the motor trade most of my life - and I'm now rounding the corner into the home straight of working life. I've been concerned with vehicle repairs, new and used car supplies, HGVs and European logistics and managed one of Britain's more proficient Euro-importers during the big discount boom. As the attraction to Euro-import faded I project managed one of the famous online broker names through the transition from Euro-sourcing to UK supply before branching out to form my own business specialising in the discount procurement of Mercedes-Chrysler-Jeep products. Oh, and a few Saabs.

I still have the pathetic threatening letters from MBUK's legal department but sold out of the brokering business a few years ago - so I'm not advertising here!

Nowadays I just do a mundane routine job while counting my pension contributions so that one day pretty soon I shall become that old git in the straw hat plodding around the country lanes in his beloved old Merc.

Hang on a second - isn't that an AMG?

Felicitations!

Jerry.

Sorry Martyz, it's just not cricket.
My usual titfer is a Breton cap 'cos the first love of my life is sailing vintage wooden yachts on the Norfolk Broads.
