Hello from across the Pond

Bienvue, je pense votre voiture est magnifique....tres tres

We're on our way over the pond on Thursday and after a week in sunny Boston popping up to Quebec - hence I'm practising my french....DOH !!

Yessiree loved your car...:bannana:

Thanks...er...merci! That's about the limit of MY french  . Hell, I have enough trouble with English - Newfinese being practically it's own language. All jokes aside, you'll have no problem in Quebec. I've been there many times and the people are wonderful - they'll help you all you need in getting yourself understood, for whatever reason.

Hey Mate! :bannana: Figured you were probably on here Dan - can never have too many MB sites to visit on a slow work day *L*. Now I just wish I knew what these (non) MB cars are that members here list in their sigs/profiles!;)

Ditto on the slow work day mate.

They are a good bunch of folks and if you query them on the cars I'm sure they will answer

Welcolm FishtailnZ :)

Don't worry 'bout those non MB cars, they are what we have to experience before realising it's a Merc we should drive!!

I was awhile getting to that point myself whitenemesis *L* But your sig helps illustrate (pardon the pun) my confusion. For I recognize some of the names, but know them as the following:

Montego (Ford)

Firenza (Oldsmobile)

Chevette (Chevrolet)

Cavalier (Chevrolet)

But somehow, I don't think these are the same as yours *L*. And I have NO idea what a Alhambra or a Chamois is...other than I use the latter to dry off the car after it's been washed!

If I were you Dan, I think the hardest part of my day would be deciding which of those monsters you own to use for the drive to/from work! :D
haha.

Thats normally based on if the SLK will start (cause if its a little too warm or a tad too cold it wont) and how late i am.

Hah! No, a bit more like these :) (not pics of my cars but you get the idea)

So that'd be one of those days when you're stuck driving the SL65 instead! As for being late? With either of those cars, making up a little extra time shouldn't be a problem! :bannana:

That Chevette in particular looks a LOT different than the horrible little beast we had over here *L*.

From my experience of the '80s - the only similarity between models over in the USA and here in UK was the name....even the VW Golf (Rabbit) was insipid in the US..I think that has changed a lot now and you get "european" handling cars...

A Global Market.................

Thats going tomorrow morning, remember we where talking about 4 seaters for MJ i'm going ahead with that plan to keep the wife happy.

Going to have to make the SLK reliable otherwise i could be blagging a lift from the mrs.

True enough. Now with manufacturers the world over decreasing their overall number of platforms as a way to cut costs, we're seeing more and more similarity between your versions and ours. I just wish we had some of the cooler small cars you have in Europe - I've always been a small "hot hatch" fan.

Riding shotgun with she-who-must-be-catered-to? Perish the thought Dan! :D
