....oh how I’ve missed you....

Rather shockingly I realised yesterday that I haven’t driven or seen my CLK since August. It’s been on the garage on trickle charger and I’ve had no cause to go out there or use it.

So this weekend I will be reacquainting myself with the old girl. I’m hoping the tyres haven’t flat spotted. I’ll give it a good going over before we use it to go to a festive light show at Blenheim palace, about an hour away from here.

I checked the MOT which is coming up for renewal. I’ve only done 1,500 miles this year. Need to use it more!

On the plus side there can’t be too many 50,000 mile CLKs out there so I guess with low usage comes rarity!

What year is it if you don’t mind me asking.

It’s a 2008 350 Sport convertible model. One of the last ones built. You see a few 2009s but not many. Chromite black with sand leather. And no....it’s not for sale!!! I have this daft idea I’ll keep it for years and years. It was registered the same month and year as my eldest son’s birthday so I have this dream that I will still have it if he gets married and we can use it for that. An odd thing to reference I know but he and I have been on European road trips in that car through France, Italy, Switzerland and Germany and it has many memories for us.

Oh, and I do love the car too. A lovely design when in Sport trim!

Well add me to the 'interested if you sell it' list if you change your mind!

Enjoy it more. It's sad but they will surely tax modern-ish cars off the road way before they have time to become classics or heirlooms.

Same with my SL, just 400 miles this year and only 4k in the last 4 years nearly, and sat on a trickle charger tucked away nice and dry. I do see it most days when I fetch the bird seed to fill the feeders though and think I must use it more.

Next year Rodney....... :(

I do so wish I had a nice dry garage for my SLK , the upside is that I need to drive it regularly

I think there will always be a place for them if you pay the tax. The tax on this is £550 a year which has already done for a lot of big engines petrol cars from 2006 to 2010. I look at it a different way. The car has finished depreciating now if I look after it. So the tax isn’t so bad to confront. Nor is the fuel cost considering the small mileage. Within reason I will always stump up the tax however high it gets. In the grand scheme it’s not overly burdensome.

If I were to ever sell, I’ll be sure to post here first

Nice! My CLK 350 is on 42000 miles on an 07 reg. Bought at 38000.
Great cars and I’m glad you’re happy with yours.
I too want mine to last years!
