Hi All

I bought a W124 coupe pre-facelift a while ago, I bought the AMG kit and some leathers and It went in for a respray, however the stupid garage I took the car to changed my interior over but never touched the body work, last week I finally got the car out and took it to another garage but the guys who fitted my interior told me they couldn't fit some of the bits on the centre console as the interior had come out of a facelift model and they have apparently binned my old bits  now im a little lost as to what I need to buy I have attached a picture any advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I also need a ash tray and the vents in the dash board, is there a difference between face lift models and non face lift models on these bits? also does anyone know where I can get them from.

Thanks

E- bay is your friend - especially the german site. Otherwise a good breaker or www.german-spob.de. They often have interior bits - especially the zebrano wood trim.

Thanks :)

Is it the trim along the dash that you are trying to match? If so that looks like walnut not zebrano, which you have on the centre console.

Please tell which garage did this so we can ensure not to ever go there?

They have made a right mess. :(

It looks like you need to start again. I see black, cream and blue panels... what on earth is that all about? It sounds to me like you need to ask the garage to pay for the bits they have thrown away.

Yes the door cards and dash are walnut, Is there a difference between a facelift heater control trim and pre-facelift?

Just make sure it has the correct holes for your spec. There are a number of variations. Coupe, saloon and estate all have the same dash panels but with different holes depending on spec.

I am confused. In the first picture the dash trim is walnut but the gear surround is zebrano. Was this another of their mistakes?

There is no difference between the older and facelift interiors afaik Certainly the centre fresh air vents are the same [ but often get broken when removing!] They probably either misplaced or damaged your interior trim parts when they were originally removed. Breaker is your best bet for replacement parts as you can get replacements from MB but not cheap! Remember there are minor differences in the trim depending on what option switches were fitted and whether the car has A/C or not.

the original blue cloth interior I had in the car had Zebrano trim, but the new interior I purchased has wallnut but the gear surround was not included so they have just put the old one in so I will be changing that to match the rest of the car, Just need a walnut ash tray and heater control trim now

Looks like the inner fascia panel is missing for the heater control panel too. Where's that gone? It should look like this:

How can a company who is swapping bit and pieces in a customers car interior. Not give the original parts that have been removed back after the job is complete?. And as in this case it seems to be the bits that are now missing. Seem to be the key parts he needs?.

I might have some bits and pieces in walnut tucked away somewhere - I'll have a look for you.

I have purchased most bits now all I need is the Ash tray and heater control trim in walnut :) gosh this project is costing me quite abit haha :)

Not sure of your situation in regards to time etc. But this would have been a terrific opportunity to carry out the job yourself.

If you thought you dont have the ability to carry the task out (which is why you may have got the garage to do it) ability doesnt come in to the equation. Logic and a bit of mental patience is all you need.

In the process you would have learned a lot about your motor and actually appreciate how these 124's and merc's of this era were beautifully built.

Ok so to get to one thing you have to remove 10 things, but its all part of the fun.

oh and you wouldn't have lost anything and saved your bob!
