My rear cats have developed 'death rattle' ;) , so I need to replace them. I've found one for sale at considerably less than the £780 + vat that Merc want. The seller assures me that it's a brand new genuine MB part, the number is A2084901319. I rang a technician at my MB dealer who says that is the correct part for my '00 CLK320, but the picture of the part for sale looks like it doesn't have the front right pre-cat, although the pipe looks the right length. Can anyone find the part number for the section of exhaust that carries the two rear cats, the 'Y' piece and, AFAIK, the right front 'pre-cat'. I've come up with the number A2084902219 from searching on here, which is obviously different.

Here is an exploded diagram, (part is number 8):

Help please, knowledgable people. :D

Does your car definitly have the pre-cat's? Some models don't have them.

You could call Mike on 08701002100, I know he does lots of exhausts/cats for Mercs @ a competitive price.

Ah, I assumed they all had 4. :o

I *think* it does, I'll have a look when I get in from work. :)

Are they genuine MB parts? AFAIK, - and I've done a lot of searching - no-one makes aftermarket ones for my CLK. Also, having wasted money on pattern parts such as brakes and MAF sensor, both of which turned out to be junk, I'm not keen on aftermarket cats either.

They look genuine to me. If the part number matches your car I doubt you have the pre-cat. Have a look when you get home and let us know.

I had a crawl under my car last night, it does have the pre-cats. So it's no good to me unfortunately. :(

It's on ebay, ends tomorrow morning, the bidding was only at £100 when I last checked. A bargain for someone!

Thanks for your help.

All I know is that he has supplied quite a few people with CLK/SLK/E55 AMG etc. And has had good luck with most. Plus I understand that if not happy will refund if not used.... Not much more I can say I'm afraid.

When I was looking for an exhaust the quote from longlife for a stainless steel system with a lifetime guarantee was less then the price for the OEM part.
