Hi

I have a strange problem on my 2003 clk. My brake lights seems to be my main lights, when I unlock the car the auto light comes on, the original main flashes and then the brake lights remain on as main lights. The on board computer says left light fault and right light fault and the substitute left and substitute right!

Could anyone share some light on this

Changed a bulb recently?

Unscrew all the bulbs effected and re seat, chances are you have inserted them incorrectly and are shorting.

No haven't touch the bulbs since I brough the car. Is it shorting that's why substitute lights are on

Possibly, unclip the actual board and remove it from the car, then take a look at all the bulbs. Check the contact points for corrosion and that they are seated correctly.

Prefacelift W209s can be a pain with electrical faults.

Ok will do. Thanks for the advice

Just check all bulbs and they seem to be fine. When I take the brake bulbs out the main ones come on, but as soon as I put them bk they go off and the brake bulb are now my mains again
