Help your M157 live longer

I missed your post Sam, have provided my initial thoughts. Will upload some further updates and my personal views 🙂 If you can do the same when you get to drive your beast and share with mbclubbers, will help others, especially if it's a good thing to share 😉 👍

I was joking :D
I'll do that but it will be a while before I'll be able to test how the car drives with the sensor unplugged as the S63 will come out summer time :)

New video out from Tassos doesn’t seem to be a yes or no answer if you should unplug it to me it seems like he has done some research and there’s no definitive answer.

Thanks friend for posting, looks like a popular topic. I can see it's taken quite a bit of storm over in the States, they do love their AMGs 👍

I like the senario Tasos gave - 60% load at 3000rpm on the limit with paddle shifters (7:30 to 8:30). Only question I have is, how often should the oil be changed 🤔
 
Mini update after unplugged-

Revs- feels more responsive, reacts quicker even on comfort mode.

Engine noise- very little difference, in fact no change in noise level. My engine was quiet to start with as mentioned previously.

Engine temperature- warms up a tiny bit sooner from cold, which means I can drive away sooner. But it's also warmer this winter.

Gearbox shift - no change in my personal opinion

Stop start inactive- MONITORING - car has been sitting, battery charge was low, 12.2v shown on my Pandora app

Fuel economy- MONITORING

So a few months have passed no since the last post, for those who have unplugged the solenoid how are you getting on? Increased oil consumption? Any more noticeable differences?
 
No other noticeable difference, no change in oil consumption but I haven't put enough miles this year to notice anything significant. An engine with high mileage may burn a bit of oil now an then compared to ones with lower mileage, so in all honesty, oil consumption may vary depending on wear and tear, usage etc

The M177 has a 2 stage oil pump too, which doesn't come as a surprise 🙂
