Hi folks. Great forum so thought I would join as I have some annoyances with my just bought merc and looks like some knowledgable people here!

Hi bub welcome to the club there are some very knowledgable people on here unfortunatley i am not one of them:thumb:

Tony.

I no my way around cars. Just don't want to tinker too much with a relatively luxury motor! And one of the low level sensors is confusing me! I managed to fix the electric seat and to say electrics aren't my forte I was mildly impressed!

Hi bub,

Would you like to share with us what the electrical issue with your seat was and how you fixed it? It may help another member on this forum who has a similar problem with his car.

I am sorry that I cannot help you out with your low level sensor confusion but I'm sure that you'll get a response soon.

The seat switch worked for everything bar fore and aft adjustment. Previous owner was 6 foot 3,wife who drives most is 5 foot 5! All I did was swap the connectors for the forward/backward motion with the seat lift from the circuit board to the motor under the seat. Money a little tight at the moment so as my wife said seat height was perfect I just swapped it. Now the height adjustment part of seat operates forward and back but no height adjustment. Still got back rest/headrest/steering wheel just that part of switch is broken! Will replace switch eventually just got more important things first!

Thanks guys. Made a couple of posts, one in interior and one one engines but no response yet. Starting to get concerns about the mpg though, gauge seems to be plummeting!

Sometimes worth getting a local indie to check on the STAR diagnostics what's going on and then you can work through the issues - oh, and welcome:-)

I was thinking of getting an obd adapter for my obd 2 reader but don't think it would read it as good. What should mpg be approximately? Rough calculation I get is 19mpg :-( and thanks for welcome!

I would have thought better than that but it depends on where you are driving; I'd guess around town that would be right but if you got all the error codes read you may find what the issue is

Mrs use it for work. 10 mile each way. No traffic as such and mainly on a 50 mph road. I would have still thought it would been better than that round town though. Expected about 25 mpg. Old vectra did 32 and that was a 2.0 auto admittedly a bit lighter body.

Yep the w210 is heavy but at 50 mph it should be better mpg I guess. Find an indie to take a look, it might not cost that much if you negotiate a price before hand!

Hate going to any garage. That's my problem! I had a bad experience before and have a serious problem with parting with money to garages when I can do repairs myself except for obviously reading fault codes. Is there an engine managment lamp on this model?

I'm sure you can check on this forum for recommended indies in your area as something's just don't show up on the warning lights and without getting the errors read you can spend a lot of money on parts just using guess work!

That's true. Rather than spending money chasing the elusive fault just get faults read. Spend a bit to save a lot. I'll look now. Search function don't work on here for me for some reason!
