Hi folks,
New to Mercs, but recently picked up an '04 SL500 on a whim - "I want to own a V8 while you still can" - and falling in love with such a pretty car at such an affordable price... and we all know where this is going!
The SBC and ABS both throwing warnings on the way home took the shine off, along with the usual niggles. I've sorted the boot lock, fitted the upgraded racks for the boot flaps, fuse-protected the BCM and a few other little bits.
New accumulators have fixed the ABC and poking around I've discovered it has a new pump and new SBC unit on it... the SBC code I have is apparently quite difficult to get rid of even after fitting a refurb unit, unless you have a full STAR/developer set up.
So I guess I know why it was up for sale, and hopefully the previous owner spent the money to get it 95% fixed for me
It was a filthy night early Jan when I drove it home and it's been sat in the garage as I get bits sorted... pics to follow once it's clean and shiny again
