Hi

i finally did it and sold my much loved Mondeo!

Good news is that i sold it at a bargain price to my sister in law so i still get to see it occasionally....

BUT!!! i dont think i am too sad because this is the car i have now bought:

pics are here:

http://www.pbase.com/merc_clk/inbox

Sorry pics are poor quality as they were taken with camera phone.

spec is:

320 CLK convertable.

3.2 V6 engine (215bhp), power roof, 5 speed auto, full silver leather, leccy seats, heated seats, air con, trip computer, parktronic, cruise, 18" AMG alloys, metallic blue & blue hood, electric rear headrests, + a few more odds and ends! Forgot to check if it had an autochanger tho, but i will prob fit an MP3 player in anyway.

i already have a few mods in mind.... auto dimming mirror, footwell lights....

Anyone any idea how much a CLK auto dimmer is from a dealer?

bad news is i have to wait until this friday to pick it up!

Also going to get a private plate for it too.

It comes with a years full parts & labour warrenty with any mercedes dealer, and if it gets nicked/totalled in 3 years i get the invoice price back

Welcome to the forum . . . car sounds great. Might take some getting used to after the Mondeo !

Auto-dim mirrors - try a PM to "V12" on here - he may still have some that will fit. You are looking about £150 from a dealer - depending on what features you want built into it.

Welcome to the Forum.

Not a good idea to heve your numberplate readable on the Internet, could get cloned and used for illegal purposes.

The only problem with that, is if anything goes wrong with the car between now and when she sells it, you will get the blame for it! Always best to sell cars to strangers ;) . Same applies to computers! People always want technical support for a second hand computer you sold them 3 years ago!

That was said with true feeling :D

Welcome SilverSaloon - but can I make one observation - great name - but the car's the wrong colour. Are you gonna get it resprayed:D :D :D

Enjoy:D

hi yeah, prob best to remove the reg plate. Not used to owning a flash car

no pics yet as i pick the car up on friday.

Glad this forum seems busy as i am used to Mondeo Enthusiats Group which is really busy and friendly. SilverSaloon was my username on that so i use it for more or less all my usernames now..... too confusing to change!

is there any main differences between my 1999 T reg CLK and the facelift models (ie W reg)? i noticed the auto box looks different a bit and indicators on the wingmirrors, buttons on steering wheel. etc.

Welcome to the forum. Wise choice of car - if I say so myself........

Welcome to the forum!

The main differences between the pre-facelift and facelift model that I can think of are:

- new tiptronic gearbix
- indicators on wingmirror
- multifunction steering wheel
- larger LCD display in instument cluster
- CAN BUS fibre optic ring for Nav, CD changer, phone etc
- body coloured bumpers
- smart electronic key (I think)

thats about it. Bumpers and indicators are an easy change! :)

The bumpers on my CLK are fully colour coded....

how easy are the indicators then, and how much money?

I can't see the number on your avatar!

Brians advice is good advice.

Seriously though, can you explain why you think that you're any more at risk when displayed on the internet? I took my reg. plate out because I'd previously accepted that this is the thing to do, but why??

All the bumpers on CLK's are colour coded, just that they become a little nicer, the main difference is the colour coded sills. Look out for a later CLK on the road, does look a lot better.

Mirrors will cost you anywhere from £150 upwards if you can find some..
