Yea, every owner is a paint specialist these days, if he didn't check all that and everything else on the car then tough. I mean, what right does he have to expect a new car in any case - doesn't he know it has to come from Germany and there's bound to be damage. You just can't reason with some people.
When we picked up my daughter's silver VW Golf, it was in the showroom to be collected and I was going over the paintwork and the salesman said "I'm glad you're not picking up a black one - they come with scratches in the paint".
I said "you mean swirl marks, created by your valeters?". He said "no, they're IN the paint from the factory". He then showed me a black car in the showroom - a complete mass of swirls. Looked like someone had been ice-skating on it.
