Ok, after the problems with my W202 im thinking of selling. Its a 2000 C200 W202 with just under 124000 on the clock.
In good condition with a full years mot and a few months tax.

Basically my battery gave up the ghost and since replacing it ive no power, no revs etc. I think maybe the ecu has fried but dont know the fault for sure. Was running great till i changed the battery. Just dont have the cash to repair the current fault.

How much do you think i should ask for if i do have to sell? I know the rough current market value etc but just coz of the fault i dont know how much i would get for it.

not a lot at all if its a non runner.

best to just stick it on ebay for bids starting at £500 and hope for the best

Spares or repair.... ECU's are expensive, best not to mention!
Hard not to mention that it has no power.....that will be pretty obvious when tested and then the prospective purchaser will be p*ssed off big time that he had a wasted journey.

Best be upfront and honest. But why not get it looked at first just incase it is a minor problem.

I probably will get it looked at. I dont want to sell it but i dont have the cash for any repair due to ill health. Im guessing its the ecu, could be something completely different thou!

agree, get it looked at first as cheaply as possible to see if its just something really simple or scour the net for clues and check yourself if you are able.

otherwise my original plan of eBay would be what i would do and let the buyer decide its value based on what they want to risk and/or what they want the car for (spares or to repair it).

make sure you are honest that is kaput and also that it will need to be towed or trailered away by the buyer.

The scrapyards around here are full of 202's . Parts should be easy to source and cheap .

Worth trying simple things like OVP relay first - simple plug in replacement and often responsible for a lot of electrical gremlins - I'd have thought £10 - £25 depending on how 'tight' the scrappy is !
